Black Cat Appreciation Day

four beautiful kittens illustrating a children's story about black cat appreciation dayBlack Cat Appreciation Day is a very important day on the Ballyyahoo calendar.

Ballyyahooians celebrate this special day every year and the Ballyyahoo cats are treated to the best of food, with treats, fun and games for all.

Many people don’t bother to celebrate Black Cat Appreciation Day because they think that black cats are in some way bad.

This is probably because when they were children they heard that black cats can bring bad luck.

THIS IS NOT TRUE!

The fact is that a black cat is just a black cat.

In the same way that white cats are just white cats. Ginger cats are just ginger cats and tabby cats are just tabby cats.

Black is just a colour – a beautiful colour.

Like all cats, they are beautiful in their own individual way and only eejits think otherwise.

Isn’t this little kitten below beautiful? Say yes in the comments box below if you agree.

What’s really sad about this eejity superstition is that many a beautiful black cat is dumped, and left abandoned to freeze or starve.

Even rescue services will tell you that they find it more difficult to find homes for a black cat than any other type of cat.

You see some eejity people looking to adopt cats won’t take a black cat, just because they are black!

Isn’t that the eejitiest thing you ever heard?

It’s not like that in Ballyyahoo.

Ballyyahooians are no eejits – well maybe a bit, but never mind because Ballyyahooians love all cats of all colours.

However, it’s different over in Ballyuseless, which as you may have heard if you’ve been here before, is the place where only the most stupid and useless people live.

They don’t look after their cats at all and it is often left to the Ballyyahooians to look after the cats of Ballyuseless when they cross the Witchy Woods and arrive in Ballyyahoo looking for food and shelter.

Now, there is one person in Ballyyahoo who loves cats more than any other and that person is Maggie-Many-Cats.

Great stories Grace! Is there really such a thing as Black Cat Appreciation Day? I always had black cats, was always drawn to them, although I love all cats really. Wish I had one!

      Hi Ali,
Yes there is a Black Cat Appreciation day. It is an effort to breakdown prejudice against them. My daughter rescues cats and tells me it is harder to re-home a black cat than say a tabby. I would love a cat too but one of my dogs would make it very difficult.
      Best wishes
      Grace
