Yesterday, my mum’s friend, Helen came to visit us with her new dog, a beautiful black labrador called Rosie. Rosie is quite big but she is not much older than Eppie so she’s still a very lively puppy.
We decided to take Rosie, Sheba and Eppie down to the Goodluck Pier and let them all have fun playing around the bay.
Dogs who live in Ballyyahoo are really lucky because there are loads of fun things to do, like swimming, exploring rocks, and rolling in seaweed.
Dogs in Ballyyahoo sometimes come home smelling like seaweed but that’s okay because it’s fresh seaweed and my mum says it keeps their bones healthy.
Today the tide was out and the first thing they did was run down to the water’s edge for a paddle.
Rose and Eppie were very interested in whatever it was under these rocks, probably rocks or shell fish. Suddenly they saw something over by a wall that they liked and decided to make a run towards it.
Rosie got there first and took a mad leap. She landed up on top of a stone wall. But once she realized where she was she got scared.
Sheba has a heavy coat and gets very hot on a summer’s day. So she was in the ocean swimming to cool herself off. She was too far away to see what was happening with her two friends.
So it was up to little Eppie to come to the rescue. Eppie came running as fast as she could to help her friend.
Eppie did her best to persuade Rosie to come down. But she was too small to climb up and help Rosie.
But when Rosie looked down she got even more afraid. It was a long way down for a dog.
Eppie began to bark and howl, desperate to get Rosie to come down. But poor Rosie was still too scared.
Then Rosie saw a gap between two big rocks in the wall and took her chance.
Seconds later Rosie was down off the wall. She was running so fast you’d think the wall was chasing her.
Rosie and Eppie ran back to Sheba and they had a great time playing by the sea. I don’t think Rosie will be climbing any walls for a while.
Back soon with more from Ballyyahoo.
