You probably know Eppie if you were here before. She’s our little puppy who comes everywhere with me and Sheba, our big and friendly German Shepherd. Sheba loves swimming but she hasn’t been in the water for a long time because we had a such a stormy winter in Ballyyahoo.
It was such a bad winter that even these massive oyster beds got damaged and they had been in the water for thirty years!
Over the last few days the sun came out and so did all us Ballyyahooians. We haven’t had any sunshine for such a long time and it was so nice and warm I took Sheba and Eppie to the Good-luck pier for a swim.
Sheba has been swimming loads of times but Eppie hasn’t really had a chance to learn yet. I didn’t know what would happen when we got down to the water but I got a big surprise when Sheba got in for a swim because Eppie ran straight in after her and started swimming right away.
She is so tiny that she is out of her depth in water that only comes up to Sheba’s knees but that doesn’t stop her. Eppie has to swim really fast to keep up with Sheba but she’s such a determined little dog that she never gets left behind.
Here she is just as she comes running out of the water.
Eppie was so excited that she couldn’t wait to get back to me and of course she did what all dogs do and shook herself dry all over my clean clothes, and just when she’d finished, Sheba ran over and did exactly the same thing.
Do you have dogs? And do your dogs do what Sheba and Eppie did?
Bye for now and see you soon
Love from Lucy
