kitten sucking a finger - illustrating a children's story about cat rescueCat Rescue is a mission for Ballyyahoo woman, Maggie Many Cats.

Some say she is eccentric, or even weird.

But that’s not true, Maggie is unashamedly a crazy-cat-lady.

She is proud of her work in rescuing cats.

Maggie can often be found in the the Witchy Woods. She loves to stroll around in woodlands and enjoys the fresh air that rolls in from the Wild Atlantic ocean.

Maggie loves the sound of the leaves crunching under her feet and she says the air smells like freedom.

But that’s not the only reason she goes walking in the Witchy Woods.

She knows from experience that there are people who don’t care about nature, and certainly don’t care about cats.

Some of them even use the woods as a place to dump their unwanted cats.

Unfortunately there are people who don’t look after their animals and never get their cats neutered.

They don’t take their cats to the vets for their vaccinations and certainly don’t take them if their cats are sick, or injured.

Because they don’t get their cats neutered, more and more unwanted kittens are born.

Many of them are left to fend for themselves in the woods, lanes, and even on the beaches of Ballyyahoo.

Abandoning cats doesn’t just happen in Ballyyahoo.

It’s happening in the whole of Ireland.

In fact, it’s happening all over the world.

But Maggie is just one woman, and she can only care for the cats she finds in Ballyyahoo.

Thankfully, there are people who care for cats all over Ireland.

Sadly, there are lots of people who don’t.

So the work of cat rescue is endless.

Ballyyahooians are different – in every way. They love their animals  – all of them.

Some people think the people of Ballyyahoo are a bit strange, or even a bit mad.

Well, they might be a little different, but they always look after and neuter their catsfour beautiful kittens illustrating a children's story page about cat rescue.
