The Good Luck Pier

You can often see the birds of Ballyyahoo flying around, or perched on rocks along the shore.

Sometimes you might even see a duck or two, swimming and fishing in the water.

The pier in Ballyyahoo is called The Good-luck pier.

It’s called that because everyone in Ballyyahoo likes to touche the pier for good luck after a stroll.

Most people enjoy a walk in Ballyyahoo and the Good Luck pier is one of the places where everyone goes.

This is also where the fishing boats land their catch and very often, their biggest catch is mackerel.

Everyone loves the taste of fresh mackerel, but Maggie’s cats go wild for it. 

Maggie is a well known character around Ballyyahoo.

She also known as Maggie Many Cats. She rescues any cats she finds abandoned, and her house is filled with cats. Her cats are special and on a good day can be found playing in Maggie’s special cat-orchestra.

At this time of year you can often see Maggie waiting at the pier.

The Ballyyahoo fisherman all know Maggie.

They are very fond of her because they know she is a kind women who spends her life rescuing cats in trouble.

The Ballyyahoo fishermen are kind as well and they always make sure to give her some fish to help feed her cats.
